Pride of Moyvane Bio

A family of musicians lead by Mom (Margie Mulvihill) and Dad (John Reynolds) who both played with many well known Irish bands since the 1980.s.  “The Pride of Moyvane” (who’s name comes from the family’s beloved Moyvane, Co. Kerry home and also the title of a reel penned by the late Martin Mulvihill) play festivals (staples at Catskills Irish Arts Week, Syracuse Irish Fest, RGAA Irish Fest most recently Atlanta Irish Fest) They have been performers on Joanie Madden’s Folk & Irish Cruise for the last seven years and looking forward to this coming May 12-May19, when Joanie’s Folk & Irish Cruise heads to Bermuda.  They play many concerts, GAA clubs, and as a very popular ceili band in the New York Tri-state area, they are a staple at All-Ireland fleadh for decades.

Their musical children, Erin Loughran (a fine fiddler who was the New York Rose of Tralee and music teacher with BS in music Limerick University), Blaithin Loughran (accordion player and member of the all female group Girsa), Neidin Loughran (whistle, guitar, singer and song writer) and John Paul Reynolds who is now 16 (All Ireland medal winner in Solo and ceili band, a multi-instrumentalist who’s talent has been referred to by music  legends as “mind blowing” .They have been recently joined by son-in-law Mickey Coleman of Co. Tyrone (a singer, guitar, song-writer and has an All-Ireland medal with the senior Tyrone GF team.  The family was featured on the HBO documentary series “The Music in Me” as well as RTE and TG4 (Irish television) and Stateside (public television documentary).

The family have taken up the roll of tradition bearers teaching hundreds of children to play music in the well-known Irish enclaves of Woodlawn, Yonkers and Pearl River, New York. 

This weekend members of the family are joined by John Walsh (Co. Kilkenny).  John’s solo album has been awarded top 50 folk albums in the world.  John tours with piping legend Paddy Keenan, he’s a long time member of Jameson’s Revenge, Norside, sits in with many bands,  playing a wide variety of music.  John is in a class of his own and the most sought after guitarist on the scene today.
